Inflatable rubber pipe plug

Inflatable rubber pipe-plugs are used during maintenance or new production of pipe systems. They are used to seal off sections of pipes in a fast, safe and simple manner. Two of the challenges in rubber pipe-plug design are to increase the working pressure and to design a pipe-plug that can be applied in a wide range of pipe diameters.

TANIQ has calculated different reinforcement structures and simulated their expansion behavior to optimize the design for maximum working pressure and the maximum range of diameters. TANIQ’s models provide insight in the relation between pressure resistance and radial expansion. This allows the manufacturer to optimize the pipe-plug design for the desired application. TANIQ’s automated production process reduces costs

TANIQ has developed a new production solution which enables a fully automated production process. The process involves automated placement of the inner and outer rubber layer, and an automated placement of the reinforcement structure. Finally, also the wrapping of nylon tapes for vulcanization is automated (constant force and standardized winding pattern). Therefore, only a minimum of manual labor is required to build the pipe-plug and a repeatable high product quality can be achieved. Main advantages are:
