TANIQ has developed Design Software for engineers to make reinforced rubber product designs. The Design Software uses embedded algorithms to compute optimal fibre reinforcement structures. This enables engineers to design optimal products fast and efficiently, without developing and computing complex algorithms themselves. The Design Software has already been successfully used in the design of various Applications (e.g. rubber expansion joints, pipe-plugs, dredge/mining hoses, bended hoses, etc.) and specially developed one-off products. The software gives the user access to TANIQ’s Technology to make optimal designs with increased performance like higher pressures, less reinforcement material (up to 80%), more flexibility, etc. The design made with the software are directly uploaded to the robot such that the products can be repeatedly made by the robot with the same high quality and consistency. Furthermore, the design can be imported in TANIQ’s FEA Toolbox for analysis of the design for different load cases in a digital environment. Optimizing designs using FEA saves significant time and money for physical prototyping and testing. 

TANIQ uses this software in-house for their R&D projects and customer product developments. For her customers they develop customized Design Software. This custom software is developed together with the customer, wherein also their design/production know-how (e.g. special material or product shape) is captured and embedded in their own software. As a result the custom Design Software will be a unique piece of software which enables our customers to benefit from TANIQ’s Technology, while still differentiating from other manufacturers through use of their own unique know-how and design features.

TANIQ’s software has a CAD-like layout and is developed to guide the user step-by-step through the design process. The software has a user-friendly interface which makes it easy to follow the design steps, and provides visual support of the design in progress and all its individual product layers. Most parts of the design process requires parametric input such as dimensions, burst pressure and layer thickness. To make the design process more efficient, frequently used materials and parts can be integrated into databases in the software. For example, a material database wherein all the properties of frequently used materials (e.g. reinforcement cords and rubber) are listed, which you can select for use.  TANIQ will train your engineers during a two-days training, on how to design new products with the software. Making a new design, including the production programs for the Robotic Equipment, typically takes only 10-20 minutes.  Additional to the production programs, the software creates a product report, documenting all design specifications, production settings and the material consumption.

Capture your know-how in software and become less dependent on skilled employees

Conventional design and manufacturing of mandrel-built reinforced rubber products requires skilled and experienced employees. It can take several months to years of training to become skilled in the art. Furthermore, making new designs strongly depends on their experience, and little on validated mathematical models. This results in dependency on skilled workers. The differences in skill/experience between workers will lead to variations in product quality. Furthermore, in case you want to upscale your production it will take time before new workers have sufficient skills and experience.

You can improve your situation by capturing your design and manufacturing know-how in the software program. Embedded mathematical models and design rules guarantee good product designs, independent of the designer.
