Pipe-plugs and stoppers
Pipe-plug design challenges are to increase the working pressure and to design a pipe-plug that can be applied in a wide range of pipe diameters. Multi-size inflatable pipe-plugs/flow stoppers are made from aramid (Kevlar/Twaron) reinforced neoprene rubber. Most of them have a built-in threaded bypass which allows for filling or venting through the plug. The reinforcement of the inflatable pipe-plug or packer must allow a maximum expansion and pressure resistance of the pipe-plug. These capabilities are determined by the type and amount of fiber (fabric) used, and how the fibers are positioned in the product (laying angles).
TANIQ has developed an automated design and production process to manufacture pipe-plugs. It allows to optimize the reinforcement structure so higher pressures and higher expansion rates can be achieved.
